It's surprisingly good for a phone card game with summoning animations for certain cards. It's free to play and definitely not pay to win since most if not 99% of it is grindable. You can pay if you want, but it's entirely pointless. 
The game is based in the original Yugioh so no synchron bs and Xyz monsters so you can't expect a turn 1 3k and forced reply. Also health is at 4k rather than the 8k used nowadays.
There's a ranked system as well which is pretty easy to climb. But it's a bit retarded since it only has 4 ranks with the top being gold. Changing highest to plat next season. 

Being new to Yugioh is fine because you are rewarded for going through 'Duel School' which teaches you and rewards you with currency to buy cards. People who've played Yugioh will find it a really boring grind and prefer to do the stage quests instead.

Only issue might be is that unless you're phone is a beast, you may have issues running it or find that battery drains fast and a slight overheating of phone.


Yes, you do see the Dark magician animation only if you summon him with Yugi. Animations are character specific.

I played that game on my tablet. Seto Kaiba was the character I picked . Because Blue Eyes White Dragon was my favorite card since childhood. Especially the fusion card Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon was very insane. I playing this game sometimes because of my hard schedule to deal with.
