The reason why shonens are on top is because they are cheesy. Everysingle of them, that's what makes them shonens. Easy to read, Easy to understand. Why do u think freaking Evangelion is not on the top of animes. People being blow away by the ending that it took 3 movies just to make some people understand it.

Shounen is enjoyed for the immense action and fighting really. Most people enjoy the fight scenes and how epic they are and whatnot.
By the way Pulse, it means Original Poster, which is also used to refer to something with great power and such.
Oh and the manga is pretty amazing at the moment too with the reuniting of certain people. :D
Animes usually fuck up with their fillers. That's why I will really only watch Animes that are original, follow the manga closely, or are just good.

Naruto is just repetitive. Look at the manga. At least One Piece has a slightly better story line. Most of the popular mangas are bad.
Myanimelist thinks Naruto and One piece are all trash.

They have their moments and good battle scenes. They're not insanely amazing but they're also not insanely horrible. Most people hate them just for the fact that they are popular than that they actually suck anyway.

In addition to this, the statement "At least One Piece has a slightly better storyline" would be a predicate, however there is no subject that it modifies. Granted, I understood that you meant that One Piece has a better storyline than Naruto, but you never specified that Naruto had a bad storyline; only that you found it repetitive. Finally, "Myanimelist thinks Naruto and One Piece are all trash." Should be "Myanimelist thinks that Naruto and One Piece are both trash."
