A child chases her ball into the road. There is an oncoming vehicle. A man sees this and runs out into the road, pushing the child out of the way but in the process getting hit by the vehicle and dies.

What was his incentive for saving the kids life?

Off the top of my head I can't think of any else. But if given the chance to meditate on it for a day, I believe I could provide rationale for doing such a heroic deed.

Well he knew that maybe in the future that idea of regretting will hunt him. He might not know he could have died. But I think he would rather have that girl survive so that she can live her life.

It's an instinctive reaction to try to save a child in danger regardless of the cost to oneself. In some people the instinct is stronger than in others especially if they are a parent themselves.

One of the core arguments against any Marxist ideology is that people would have no drive to get up in the morning and work because they can't maximize their profits, but that's only assuming that making money is the sole reason why people do things. The example just proves how that's not the case. There's no monetary gain for saving that child- in fact, there's no gain to the man whatsoever. But he still does so for plenty of other reasons.
