RE: RIP NVIDIA 2016

honestly i dont see anyone paying an extra 200+ just to buy nvidia

jesus, once the rx 480 comes out the resale values of nvidia cards are going to tank
980 ti will go for 250 and 980 will go for 200

RE: RIP NVIDIA 2016

Any other benchmarks for this card vs the 1080? Like how some games favor one brand over the other, I've seen that game play better on AMD cards over Nvidia more. If this is the only benchmark, you can't say too much. Like how the press show said the 1080 and 1070 are better than a Titan X, they were talking about for VR for their data they provided.

RE: RIP NVIDIA 2016

Lol you know that your two 480's aren't running on the same graphics settings as the 1080 in your pic, right?

Besides, why the fuck would you want two cards over one  of equal value?

>but muh Vulcan

Literally a meme, just like dx12 was. Hell, this whole VR shit is a meme too. Nobody is going to be playing VR for several more years, this is a marketing gimmick to get you to needlessly upgrade from last gen.

There aren't even any actual benchmarks, and the aftermarkets for the 1080 just came out recently (cheaper than the FE), yet people are already gushing over the 480.

Smh tbh

It's all about the wording of your rpesentations. Like how everyone loves apple so much, but you can beat pretty much every defense they have for apple products being better, then they end up saying "Well I like it, so whatever" or something along those lines.

All reviewer benchmarks show that the 1080 and 1070 ARE better then the titan x.

Where does it say that the 480 was running on low settings?
RX 480 has rougly 5.83~ tflops of performance considering it runs at 1255 mhz and a 1080 has 8.9 tflops. Im pretty sure 2 of them will be faster then one considering dx12 massively supports crossfire/sli.
Where did you get "two cards over one of equal value" from? Last i checked, 2 x 480 ($398) vs 1080 FE ($699).
What does aftermarkets for 1080 have to do with anything. Reputable reviewers that went to computex have already tested out the aibs and have shown poor oc that barely hits the stated 2.1+ ghz @ 67 C at nvidia's pascal conference.

But you are correct, no benchmakrs have been released yet however a leaked benchmark of the new cards paired up in  3dmark show that the 480 is in the realm of r9 fury/980 at $199
If it is correct,  480 CF  = 980 SLI > 1080 = rip nvidia

Apparently they weren't running at different settings after all, AOTS randomizes certain details like the snow which makes the picture appear more different than it actually is. But the two 480s  were using DX12's MA which is different from just straight CF because it has vram pooling and split frame rendering. This pretty deceptively makes dual 480s seem to perform better than they actually do with CF since most games aren't in dx12.

And therin lies the problem; This whole entire argument revolves around the idea that mid range multigpu setups are better than single high end ones due to price/perf ratios, but that relies on CF/SLI not being dogshit which they are; only in DX12 do multigpu setups work good enough to justify themselves, which sucks because nobody is developing in dx12 rn. As for vulkan, it's just going to end up as Mantle v2. I mean, it's a smart marketing strategy by amd after nvidia essentially halved the cost of the titan, but at it's core the argument is essentially "buy like 2 our low/mid range cards and maybe at some point they might work in tandem well enough to compete." I mean if you truly believe everything will be on dx12 then go ahead, but in the meantime or if that doesn't work out, you are getting fucked by going for the multi480 setup, even if it's $100-200 cheaper.
