Is it common to be allowed a notebook in tests?

I have noticed that ever so recently I have been allowed to bring notes/a notebook to different tests. I don't know if this is just a thing in my school/country or whether this is something that is commonly done as it is the first I have experienced it. SmGLove SmGLove SmGLove

It's called open or closed book tests..... The books are usually useless though.

Depends on the subject and the school, you can have open and closed book tests, cheat sheets... Some subject let me bring in a textbook, but you almost don't really ever use it. ;-;
