(I'm suggesting this because I have talked to the mods as raids are going on.) The proposal is that a new rule be made telling people of the SmG community to refrain from type in general text chat until a raid as been stop by our admin/moderating teams to avoid confusion, accidental bans and to increase the speed at which the mods and admins can deal with the problem at hand.

a cooldown would be a nice addition, but the staff actually telling people will cause confusion and be pretty hectic and unnecessary

Staff is there for a reason. It takes 2 seconds to unban someone if an accident happens.
