Replacing Video Card.

My GTX 970 video card is giving me troubles, keeps blanking out and sometimes even locks up my computer so I am looking at replacing it with something that has the same performance or maybe even better performance but it needs to be reasonably priced as I am now a pensioner.

Any suggestions would be welcomed as I haven't looked at video cards for a while and there is a shit load of them out there at the moment.

Go with an rx 570 it retails around 150$-190$ and has good performance

I recently replaced it with an RTX 2070. My GTX970 also derped out. Also by locking out your comp did you mean like screen freezes and forced restart? Because I had that too.

yep have had the screen freeze for a while now but today the video card died altogether until it had cooled off for a while then it came good again.

Omfg.... we have the exact same issue.
Do you also have different games just refusing to cooperate. Like lower graphically intense games are sometimes more likely to freeze up than higher demanding ones?

A good idea would be to say what you consider reasonably priced but

Rx 590 - 270 (USD)
Better than 1060 and close to 1070  (About 20 fps faster than the 970)

Rx 580 - 230 (USD)
Same level of the 1060 roughly (About 10 fps faster than the 970)

1060 - 250  (USD)
See above.

RE: Replacing Video Card.

I know this is a bump but it follows on from the previous posts.

I bought an RX580 and it works fine except sometimes when I play games I get a green screen for a couple of seconds during play.
If I view a replay then the green screen is not evident so I have to assume that it is either the video card settings or something else in the video line.
My monitor is connected via HDMI and it has no other connection I can use.
I am using the latest video card drivers and have tried earlier versions as well.

Any ideas as to a possible cause?
