Well it is a very complex question, because each person has their own perception and tastes, which determine which factor is the most pleasing, I personally like the animations because they allow me to experience more visually the content of some mangas or visual novels, although I must admit that animation as such plays a very important factor today, although I admit that many of the anime I've seen more than anything for the story more than the same visual effects.
