So after months of thought and discussions at various staff meetings we have finally decided to make a little more sense of Donator and SmG Donator Ranks. If you are new here and did not know SmG currently has two donation ranks. SmG Donator which is the donator rank for users that are already in SmG by going through the application process and Donator which is the donator rank for non-SmG members. We are now merging the two ranks into one rank, SmG Donator. The reason for this is because it doesn't make sense to have two donator ranks/roles.

With removal of inactivity checks it becomes even more non-sensible to have two donator ranks. More so in the past then lately we used to reprimand users by removing their SmG rank. We believe that no matter what rank or role a user is in if they should be warned, muted, or banned accordingly and a removal of a rank is not a realistic punishment anymore. We will move all the Donators into the SmG Donator if any of them act up they will get dealt with like anyone else.

Another stepping stone for this change is the addition of the SmG Booster Rank. When someone boosts SmG's Discord Server they are, by design automatically put into the SmG Booster role on Discord which gives them all the SmG Member permissions + SmG Booster permissions. 

So what does this mean for the application process for Donators and Boosters?
If someone Donates to SmG or Boosts SmG's server before joining SmG they will be added to the SmG Member group without having to post an application. I believe this takes away from our application process but I see no other way at this point in time to solve this problem of two donator ranks. I plan on raising the donation amount or possibly making it a monthly payment rather than a one time payment to counter act the bypassing of the application. )If we do this it will only affect new donators and current donators. All current donators are grandfathered into the lifetime Donator Rank.) This change will come when Recon, Wires, and I find time to redesign the donation system to be automatic and not manual.

As any change like this there could be some good and bad things about it we did not see so it could be reverted or changed at anytime please stay updated. 


@SmG Rose I will need you to update the information about SmG Donator and SmG Booster about the exception of an application when going straight from Registered User to Donator or Booster. You will also need to add Donator to the Discontinued rank and add the reasoning behind it in there for any curious users.

There were some extremely inactive Donators. I moved them to registered for the time being. I doubt they will return anyways.

So far that was painless.
