I tend to get a lot of random dm's from people in the server that i don't know.
But i'd rather not close my dm's completely either.

Sooo, i was thinking we could have open dm's, ask to dm and closed dm's roles
So if you have the ask to dm role, the ones that want to dm you can just ping you and ask in a text-channel for dm's?

Then again u can close ur dms after ur done dming them. And an extra role and channel like that sound kinda uselesss imho. Good creativity at least KirbyHi

Good idea but weird way of enplaning it. I get tons of dms and people and friend requests. I agree we should do something, but thats not the play

Good idea, hard to practice. Especially since people could just ignore the role completely to advertise. Therefore rendering it useless.

This has been recommended in another server i am in and it has worked out well. I think it is a good idea for some so that people know who is open to talk, but for me it wouldnt be useful either SmG

that means i would have to keep my dm's closed for all servers.
that's my point, i want to be able to have people ask before they dm me in the server before they do.
plenty of servers have done this, and it's not as much of a pain as you would think it is, it's really a matter of habit.

You really think people are going to stop DMing you because you have an "ask to DM" role? I get loads of useless DMs every day. Ignore them.
