What exactly is the original point of the shoutbox? This is the first forums I have been apart of and ever seen really. What is the intended use? The name makes me think its for shoutting people out, or giving quick notices, but that's clearly not what it is used for.

if i remember correctly, the shoutbox was used to make quick announcement or to more importantly be like a spambox minus the spam. Its been reset so many times however, i forget.

I don't think it has a use. It's more of a fun feature. But it certainly did reduce the number of people conversing on threads.
