Maybe he got SmG from Halo 2 or other versions
and then he thought that Sub Machine Gun was very common and made a new one so others will be surprised that it meant So Many Guns
(thats the simplest reason I can think about ^_^)

My guess would be because he was too much of a noob to pick up ammo so he had so many guns, but no ammo.
