Timezone difference. He is an Aussie so he is in my timezone therefore his birthday is on the actual day that Aussies see as today. Your timezone is behind ours so you see us celebrate his birthday early when in fact you are celebrating his birthday late.
Birthdays are related to the actual time and place of birth so if I move to the USA then my actual birthday would be a day earlier but for convenience we keep the birthday to the date of the time and place we were born.
Don't piss off old people.
The older we get the less "life in prison" is a deterrent.
