I have windows 8 , i have never encountered any problem with haloce on windows 8 .
May be the downloaded file might be corrupted or try re installing the graphics card driver .

Install, then go to the folder where haloce.exe is and open haloupdater.exe
After update open haloce.exe and try again.

I tried applying it with different compatibility modes, but that doesn't work.
I also think it has something to do with my graphics card.

To help you, you need to answer those questions:

1. Do other games work for u?
2.Which graphics card do u have EXACTLY?
3.Which operating system do you have EXACTLY?

To find out, open dxdiag.exe by pressing the start button (I don't know how it is in Win8, find a spot where you can SEARCH/TYPE anything in. There type dxdiag or dxdiag.exe. There it says which Operating System you have. E,g for me it says Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit version.

Then on top go to the next tab, there it says which Graphic card u got. Probably a Nvidia or a AMD one. Tell us here. I will get the right drivers for you to download and to install and try again then.

Install. Then restart your computer. Try again with HCE and Halo Trial and post result here. Also please get another game and run it if you can.
