The iphone has a newer better adapter. It can take all the bandwidth. My computer on the other hand is ancient so really it isn't gonna take advantage of all that speed.

Anyways, just use an Ethernet cord. They're REALLY cheap. I bought a 100-ft Cat 6 for ~ $18, turned out I only needed a 50-foot once, but I didn't care :P
And, you can still get really high speeds from 2.4(30-50) if you have a good enough router. Looks like you may have a router that's 300/1200 or something? So, 300 2.4, 1200 5.0
Just looks that way anyways
The problem is that the router is downstairs on top of the TV stand. I might use a ethernet cord and connect it to my computer downstairs if I'm downloading a game or something. But that is pretty much it.
That's why I Suggested getting a ethernet cord and brough up the fact of them being very cheap now. I run mine from my parents' room downstairs, at the end of the house, along the floor & wall, to the door to the upstairs, up the stairs against the wall around my door into where I have the router, then run a small ethernet cord from it to my desktop nearby.
I use a TP-Link Archer C9. I get range across the street at the bank & Papa Jhons, and to the end of the back yard. It reaches a long distance, I have it as the first connection my own, with 2.4 & 5. Then a second connection as just 2.4 for everyone else in the household.
(Yes, I have a whole connection for my devices, I kinda have 9 phones, 2 desktops, 4 laptops, a tablet, and a console sometimes..)
So, you could easily order a long cord, run it from the router to your pc, or run the router from the modem to you room, so on, so on, with many choices available to you. You can use T pins & Staples or another device to hold the cord along the floor or wall or ceiling.
Here's a link to the $18 100-ft Flat Cat 6 ethernet cord I ordered
