Hey, I've been having a few virus-related problems :ugh: with my PC lately, I'm thinking of getting it checked out soon. Before I do, I thought I'd ask what you guys use for your active virus protection. Could you recommend a good, free/cheap program?

AVG is like a virus itself, not in the aspect that it does anything bad, that you can't disable it if you need to, or stop it for a few minutes, and it's a pain the anus to remove.
I have never had a virus, I use Malwarebytes (PRO), and Microsoft Security Essentials, as long as you have legitimate Windows then MSE is free. If it says something is a virus, it is. There are very rarely any false-positives.
Don't use Avast, ever. It's a memory whore. It flags anything as a virus and makes you shit yourself.

Best anti-virus is common sense. Don't download anything that you think might be a virus, no matter how enticing it may be.
I only use MSE as "back-up" to my common sense, if I DL something that I think is safe, and it thinks otherwise, it will tell me, which has only happened twice, over the period of ~2 years.
