For a certain journey , if a train increases its speed by 2km/hr , then it will take 4 hours less to finish the trip. If it reduce its speed by 2km/hr than it will take 6 hours to finish its trip. Find the distance.
Let the distance traversed be x, speed be s, time be t.
So, initially, you'd get x = st
So case 1, x = (s + 2)(t-4) [cuz speed increases by 2 and time decreases by 4]
And case 2, x = (s-2)(6) [cuz speed decreases by 2 and time taken is 6]
You have 3 equations amd three variables, so it can be solved, it would most probably result in a quadratic equation...
