No it's not normal, at least from what I've heard. Due to several Potentially fatal events that have happened to me over the years, I've had times where I hear things. I've learned to ignore it.
Also welcome to forums Amanda, as everyone else said already. And yeah, try to avoid direct contact with Rebel and Beasty, especially if they are around at the same time. Enjoy your stay, try not to take the idiocy too seriously an you'll be fine.
