If you jailbreak it absolutely will ruin your battery and slow down your processor dramatically. Almost all tweaks are native, meaning they are constantly running and taking up processor and memory space. In addition to that, things like android lock, boot logos, SB settings, iconoclasm, infinidock, cydia, and winter board all are constantly running. This will absolutely slow down your hardware and fuck up your battery permanently- the iPhone hardware is shit as is, and isn't intended to have that many processes and tweaks running natively without dedicated memory forcefully allocated via firmware (which you clearly have to modify in order to use an exploit, so it's not a stock IPSW and won't work perfectly anyway).
This is the problem with Apple, it's relatively stable but it is a shitty phone, and attempting to make it worthwhile to use can fuck up the hardware because that is what apple does, makes hardware to suit their firmware and not vice versa.
