The United States is considered to be an Oligarchy (a socio-political theory where nearly all power is concentrated into an extremely small amount of people)- more specifically, a plutocracy (one where that small group of people is comprised of the richest of the rich; the people who own the multinational corporations and media outlets.)
Glad to know it's in writing, even if it is something US citizens have known for a long time.
