Demo models are easier to get rid of. They are almost brand new but have that slightly worn look so they can be sold with an excuse. Brand new raises questions about where did it come from and why is it so cheap.
As for damage when they yanked em, it will cause minimal damage the main idea is quick in and out so you don't get caught. Any damaged ones would be sold anyway because these guys have no morals about selling stolen damaged goods anyway.
Don't piss off old people.
The older we get the less "life in prison" is a deterrent.
