While pressing the Ctrl key, move your scroll wheel up or down to adjust the text size. When you are happy with the text size then release the Ctrl key. The text should stay there at the size you have selected.
As for the align that is also a problem at your end. I also use Chrome and the text is left justified (I prefer it that way).
I think it is only center justified with IE on my computer.
Don't piss off old people.
