What hath light bring, but a showing of that
Which the darkness had hid for thy sake?
Lest ye find thyself ne'er complacent in thine mediocrity,
Flee hitherto and covet the darkness.
Light bringeth pain, and pain is growth.
So far as one should seek to fall
From the grave of the cloud
And giveth himself asunder to all the renditions of himself,
He will find himself a man above men;
An overman.
Otherwise, let he lament in his unworthiness,
For no farther should I seek for a man
More worthy of the title God's lamb!
And indeed, of the shepherds flock
Shalt he make a most bountiful feast!
