I definitely can see how these type of threads can flood searches. The question is what is the best solution.

For now I added an option to hide sections from Today's Posts search. The Unread posts and Roulette search are custom search plugins. I will have to modify some of the code in the plugins to work with the new search filter. 

To access this new filter User Control Panel->Edit Options-> Hide Forum Sections From Todays Posts Search
