This argument has had legal implications in the United States. Vegetables can be roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. Potatoes and carrots are roots. Asparagus and celery are stems. Lettuce and spinach are leaves. Broccoli is a flower.

Tomato is a (mostly) red fruit, that is used for lots of different porpoises (yes, porpoises) ... You can eat it, you can drown it, you can throw it, you can do lots of other things to it, if you're so inclined ...

Make soup, paste, lube, sauce .. you know, the usual stuff. It is TECHNICALLY a fruit, but is usually called a vegetable because it isn't sweet nor can be used for desserts, sweets etc .. unless you're weird. xD

It's used for tomato sauce and ketchup. Doesn't taste very good when you just eat it plain. And it's red and plumpy!
