My bet is that they'll release the rest of the Halo games as Win8 only (kinda like H2V (Vista required, but nothing to support that requirement)) due to poor sales to win the PC gamers over.

I don't care if they put the Metro UI or not. I hardly use the start menu, most of the time shortcut keys.
Doesn't matter if they put Start menu or not, anyway, there are tutorials on Youtube that let you bring back the Start menu through registry edits. There are many better things in W8, most significantly the effieciency and speed. W8 hasn't even had a proper release yet, it really can improve a lot. Even W7 wasn't good until there were some updates. I hope they keep an easy option to choose.
Not just W8, even on the open source side, go tell how awesome Unity is to Linux users XD
Linux won't be that simple though, its going to be tougher for people who use PC less. After getting used to Windows for years, you'll miss many things that Windows had. However, setting things up is fun but complex, you'll find yourself breaking things and scanning around forums for the solution. I'm not so experienced but I tried Ubuntu, it had compatibility problems, heck I can't put my notebook even to sleep and USB problems.
Its really not an install and go thing. That's my experience with Ubuntu, haven't tried other distributions though.
