Do any of you guys happen to know a good octagon-ish map for H2V? I searched halomaps.org but with no results.

There is an Octagon Remake for H2V. I am pretty sure it has been released.
But, it would be best for you to check with StatutoryTr0y about that one.
It's his map, I am not 100% sure if he has released the map to the public.

So, you will have to go over to monstrmoose forums, if you're not banned because of your "hacks".
Seeing as Moose will ban anyone with skill. He was either touched too much, or too little as a child.

Tr0y also has a map called Strong Hold, which is a small map, if you like Octagon, you'll probably like that also.

I have all the maps on my mediafire account. Uploaded them as offsite backups.
If Troy says the maps are okay to give out, or are public, which I believe they are.
I can give you the link to the maps. Just don't want Troy to get mad at me for giving out his unfinished material.

I did get hold of the Octagon map.

I sent tr0y a PM asking for the other. He hasn't answered me yet, though. (Strong Hold)

Also, out of pure curiosity, is there a test version of his Guardian somewhere? I saw some screen form it and it looked great.
