The fish AI will probably be smarter than the enemy AI.

Cryengine, IMO, is the best out there. No one can denied that Crysis series are the best looking games (each one at their time) in almost every aspect.

Re: Engines : Cryengine vs Unreal vs Frostbite

Because its use it's not restricted to games only...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CryEngine

Several MMORPG use CryEngine...Aion, Icarus Online. Blue Mars, a Virtual world on beta uses CryEngine. The Australian navy uses a virtual landing program to train their soldiers made with cryengine. A french company uses it to show how the building would look before building it.

Re: Engines : Cryengine vs Unreal vs Frostbite

Frostbite 3 is better. It does not mean that if crysis is a good game because of the engine. There's no physical aspect of the engine. As for Frostbite 3, great graphics with cool physical aspects added. Water simulations that not flat with animation looking like it's actually water. Or wind/explosions that makes tress swing. You look at the character which looks amazing good.

But crysis just no. I'm actually getting tired of it because of the graphics being the only reason why it's good. It's very overrated.

I personally enjoyed crysis 2... Being a over powered super human kicking cars and throwing things at people is actually pretty fun.. It's debatable.. You either like it or you don't..

Re: Engines : Cryengine vs Unreal vs Frostbite

I didn't say the game it's self is bad. I'm saying they need to add more physics into the engine. I would rather play a game with bad graphics but good physical features to it then a good graphics but no physical feature to it.

The word overrated is overrated. The word itself is an excuse to try to put their opinions as fact. I could say the same about Battlefield or other games.

However, it is true that CryEngine needs to work on the engine physics. They are not terrible as you point them out. But, you should considering that you are comparing a 09' engine (CryEngine3) to an upcoming engine(Frostbite 3) :P 3 years of difference between both.

Re: Engines : Cryengine vs Unreal vs Frostbite

3 years is not a huge difference. Even so when their in the same gen category. They both been made by like the same ways as other game engines are made.

And where on my post I said it was a fact?

Re: Engines : Cryengine vs Unreal vs Frostbite

You can't really compare Frostbite 3 when it is not even commecially released yet. For all we know, the trailers for Battlefield 4 are the best looking parts of the game and the rest is not as good.

CryEngine is due for a major update since the last one was with Crysis 2 in 2011

Unreal Engine is too, only it's update is confirmed and releasing upon next-gen console launch

In other engines:

Dunia 2 (Far Cry 3) looks good, but needs some minor tweaks

Source is still going strong with minor updates since its release in 2004. Looks good but you can tell it's aging

Anvil (Assassin's Creed) need more graphics settings on PC to be any good

RAGE (GTA, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption) needs more PC optimisation

GeoMod (Red Faction) needs a new game using it

Creation Engine (Skyrim) was outdated on release due to it basically being an update for the Gamebryo (Fallout New Vegas, Oblivion) engine

and finally: Java (Minecraft) needs antialiasing support
