While I do, mostly agree with you Battlefire, there are reason it exists. Competitive gaming is, very competitive and while it may not be as physically exerting as say a marathon, it's hugely emotionally and mentally stressful. It's not easy to be the number one player in the world in any game, people who play these games get payed a lot. It's a competition, and a sport, it's a sport competition. If someone comes to the US to compete in game tournaments, they're earning money, and they're technically working, they need to apply for a visa, the government have set it up so that's now possible.
