So no not a dumbass you ignorant fuck.

Holy shit, that's the point. Why do you think the water evaporates? It's called heat transfer, derp.

Water is used because it is better at diffusing heat from the burned area then a solid like an ice pack.

And you're also completely wrong that you need something colder than water. Something like ice is too cold, and will slow blood flow in the surrounding tissue.

But I don't know what I was expecting coming from you.

The last thing you want when you have a burn is frost bite too, which can happen because the deeper layers of skin are more fragile and would be exposed because of the burn, thus making it more likely to be damaged be the extreme cold of ice.

I forgot to mention to lay a towel on you arm or wherever you burn is and put ice on that. You not going to get frostbit by just leaving ice on it or any cold pack for 30 minutes on a 1st or 2nd degree burn. If it was a 3rd degree burn then you still need a towel and ice if you don't have any sort of Sucralfate cream or just any burn cream.

These things don't help the burn it just eases the pain.

@Beasty - Yes I know that but if you ever read my post I said not enough temperature.
