wats the point of the game cd telling u to install halo game it if u need to use the cd ? i thought i could dl h3 for free and play it :(

If that's a serious question, that is quite sad on your behalf.

You install it so it doesn't need to read the disc every twenty seconds, and make the Xbox, which has very terrible hardware, work any harder than it needs to.
It reads of the hard drive, with a much higher read rate than the disc drive.
The reason that make you use the DVD, is so you don't go buy, or rent an Xbox game, install, then return, or sell the game.
It doesn't read the DVD, it is only there as a launcher, make your own launcher, and you don't need to disc.
But, you need to jtag the Xbox or work for Microsoft.
