"YouTube Gaming will launch sometime this summer, with new and improved Livestreaming tools that enable users to automatically convert their stream into YouTube video(s) for easy uploading. In addition, YouTube channels will no longer have to schedule their livestreams, instead they will now be able to stream at any time, and stream any game you wish (that meets the Terms of Service) at the drop of a hat.
When using YouTube Gaming, viewers have the option of adding channels to their “collection” which allows viewers to access the channels quickly; alternately viewers can subscribe to them, which (much like on TwitchTV) alerts viewers to live shows as they happen.
YouTube Gaming is also designed to filter out non-gaming related items so that when searching for something specific, the viewer doesn’t have to deal with unrelated nonsense in their search function. “When you want something specific, you can search with confidence, knowing that typing ‘call’ will show you ‘Call of Duty’ and not ‘Call Me Maybe,‘” stated YouTube product manager Alan Joyce during YouTube Gaming’s announcement and press release.
Over 25,000 games will have their own page, which will make it incredibly easy for viewers to find new channels to watch their favorite games and content.
YouTube Gaming offers a new way to find TONS of gaming content; with both a web-based and mobile-based version on the way, gamers will be able to access new channels (as well as their favorite ones) at the drop of a hat, either on the go or at home. It is too soon to tell whether this will be successful or not, but the improved live-streaming support is definitely something to keep an eye on when the website and app launch later this summer."
