I did a 256gb SSD because some games and software i store on it, mostly wow and planetside2, now bf4. Just to save on load times a lot.

Software wise, I'm into developing games on the side, so I just install all my creators on the ssd since they're 500mb-5gb at most usually, helps with saving time, plus i do some Photoshop here and there, usually a lot at once.

Specs are akward as fuck too. 16 gigs of ram but you have a 670. An i7 with a shitty clock speed but you could get an i5 for cheaper and it wouldn't affect you too much as long as you're not doing like rendering and shit since you don't really need a hyperthreaded processor to play games. Also if you're putting your mass storage and games on the HDD anyway, why buy a 256 SSD to put your os on when you could just get a 125 for the same effect only cheaper? Shit, then you could have upped the HDD to a TB and still probably saved money.

If you had scraped some of the usless shit off like above you probably could have got a better gpu and you wouldn't have to run games at sub 60 framerates.

Yes and no. You cannot customize a laptop as easily as a desktop where saving 50-100 could of upgraded the gpu like a desktop can, imo the gpu is actually really good considering the time it was bought 2 years ago (gtx 670m) since the highest single tier gpu then was the (gtx 680mx, not including SLI) and could play games released then on ultra, 1080p @ 60fps easily.
Also comparing ram to the gpu is irrelevant, unless you're sharing system ram with Vram which clearly in this case he isnt. 16gb of ram isnt actually a lot as i've gotten prompts of reaching my 8gb threshold under full load and personally believe that 8gb is not enough. You're right if you're comparing desktop flagship version of i5 with i7 but we're talking about core i5 and i7 (aka the underclocked version of desktop) core i7 ~ mid tier desktop i5, core i5 ~ high end desktop i3. Lmao why would you get a 128gb for $70 when you can get a 256gb ssd for $100? and trust me i have both a 256gb and 128gb ssd and the extra 128gb does make a diff as you can store 10 x 12gb games, or in ur case 100 x 1gb of hentai kek. Honestly if anyone still buy hdds in 2015 you should kill yourself. imjk

Wait those are the specs of the laptop? He said he had a desktop and a laptop, I assumed this was the desktop. I wasn't comparing the sysram to the gpu's ram, I was saying he probably could have 8 gigs and still been fine and used the extra money for a better gpu because again I thought we were talking about the desktop.
