SmG Ray88 Wrote:SmG Hawk Wrote:Dude, an SSD just isn't need for general storage purposes, it would be a huge waste of money to get a 500GB or greater SSD when all they're really needed for is the OS and applications such as games. why would it be a waste of money when most task done relies on your hard drive?
you're like saying opening word, league, movies, rendering, skype, steam, chrome doesnt require the hard drive pls
Pfft opening word, it doesn't matter if it takes at most 5 seconds more; league I understand being on an SSD, mines on my SSD; movies, you can't tell any difference between HDD and SSD; rendering, yes I understand that; fucking Skype?, are you serious, once it's loaded into the RAM it never touches the HDD, same thing for chrome; steam, again I understand, mainly if it's the games that you're storing on the SSD.
They're only worth the extra cost when you have to load files from the hardrive frequently or it's a large amount to be loaded, such as loading into league or a map on CoD or something like that.
But small one off loads such as a word document a HDD is more than enough.

Re: NEW GAMING PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5 seconds is a lot of time if you add it up every day
time saved is time earned

Re: NEW GAMING PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why are you still arguing? Bottom line, ssd > hdd and no a 500 GB ssd is not small nor a huge waste of money when steam games including dlc range from 10-50 GB. Not to mention other large programs such as database applications or Autocad when opening up large renders.
BTW movies and photos do benefit from a ssd when you're opening a RAW 35 megapixel image or a UHD movie, 4k or greater.

Re: NEW GAMING PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Talk about overkill Ray. Personally a HDD is decent enough.

I mean don't get me wrong SSD's are good, really good, but sometimes you need the storage. cuz its 2015, who still uses hdd
its like using cds to store your data or using a walkman to listen to music
He is partly right. SSD is good stuff.
But I still love my 4x 4TB WD Black Raid 5 (12GB Capacity) tho kek
