It is multiplayer it just you won't see any other player. The Universe is way to big so the likelihood of finding another player is like impossible.

Friend of mine came across a planet found by another player though so that is luck.

But No Man's Sky was way over hyped. The PC port makes you want to smash your godly PC. There is a lack of content because you find the same old minerals over and over again. You are literally doing the same thing everything you discover a new planet. The game should not be $60.

No Man's Sky became the new Spore.
