I get a bunch of ip for the old ones I had. And by bunch I mean a little bit and by ip I mean blue essence or whatever it's called now. At least I can change my rune setup in champ select now.

That's the best part though, the re-learning part makes the game interesting, or it would just be boring :)

I like the new runes, Ezreal is so good atm xD.
