Should there have been a type of draft for the upcoming Overwatch League?
Howdy ya'll.
As many of you know, the OW league was created this past year and many cities around the world have been debuting their teams. As far as I know, no new teams were really created, but old teams were rebranded. (EnvyUS became Dallas Fuel, etc.)
Do you think this was right to have the league run with no distribution of power? If you watched Contenders, you'd have seen EnvyUs (Dallas Fuel) destroy the competition by a wide margin. I believe they didn't drop a single game. So, keeping that same roster in the OW league, how will the matches look? What will the standings look like?
As a watcher of other "sports", it tends to be better for the sport if there is tight competition between teams, rather than one team blowing out everyone else.
What are your thoughts on the upcoming OW league? Do you think there should've been a "draft"? Do you have any other ideas to balance the teams? Or do you think it is fine as is?
RE: Should there have been a type of draft for the upcoming Overwatch League?
You really don't seem to understand esports then. The meta is always shifting and for a while during the dive meta, envyus was garbage and Rogue was king because they figured it out. The only real pros are South Korea's lunatic hai which is now Seoul something I forgot.
How would drafting work in the first place? Different players all speak different languages around the world. You can't do a global draft, that's just stupid. And plus, drafting in specific regions is basically the world cup.
