I honestly am very spiritual, highly religious, and a total jerk to people who trash my religion due to one simple fact: I don't trash their beliefs. It just goes to show that people who don't follow a religion are far more unkind by insulting us who follow a spiritual guidance. I have known men and women far greater than those rather than not who are very religious, have very intelligent minds, and are very philosophical thinkers. You can't just look at people on the streets. Talk to people who study the books and read regularly.

There are MANY great minds who are religious and/or spiritual. It is all about how you were raised, and what you know, or have been taught to believe through third-party sources. First hand accounts are usually what turns someone to Christianity, and God can do that for you, if only you seek. I love him because he loved me first. If he did not love me first why was he listening my whole life that the instant I asked for a sign I received one? Now, you can receive a sign and ignore it, that is your decision. You can't believe, though, if you ask for a sign, and he gives you one and you just go, "Oh, well that's not good enough." or "That wasn't a sign."

YOU have to believe to receive, not because that is how he is, but how you are. You can not receive something that you ignore. Otherwise, you have recieved nothing, only what you have gathered to be something gifted. If a child hands you a rock, have you gained anything? Only if you value it and treat it as a treasure.

Religion is not an easy answer.  It is sooooo hard to be a good Christian and set a good example.  The fact that so many people view Christianity poorly just show how hard it is to set a good example.
