Honestly, I don't think the private channels are healthy for the community, I think it's completely stupid. Why add 7 channels for regular non SMG members to join and then have staff drag people into private channels exceeding the channels limit... I mean yeah sure "They are our friends and we privately want to play games with them" but some new guy joins or some random who isn't even your friend asks to join the private chat, you move them in there, and it makes the community look dead as hell; and what does that mean? It means people won't be interested in joining the server at all because there is no one to talk to nor play games with. I mean WHY MAKE A GAMING COMMUNITY AND MAKE IT TO WHERE PEOPLE CAN JOIN OTHER PEOPLE FREELY AND BE LIKE "Hey want to play games?" THAT'S ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! THIS IS DOING NOTHING BUT TEARING THE COMMUNITY APART. And I can't help but to think why the server has been ghosted recently...

I used to join the discord when almost all the public channels were filled... and talk to people new or that I know and chill with them and prosper... now it looks like a concentration camp...

FIX THIS PLEASE, MAKE THE COMMUNITY COME BACK AND PROSPER WITH OTHERS.


Another argument is that "We have private channels for SMG members though?" Yeah you do, and there is nothing wrong with that, but how is the "SMG" community going to grow if they see now people there and people in private chats? When I found this discord my reaction was "FINALLY A DISCORD I CAN TALK TO PEOPLE IN AND CHILL WITH" Every other discord I try to find, no one is in it or the channels are all locked and it deprives my motivation for staying in the server at all... and then I leave it looking for another...

And half the time the private channels are filled up and people ask to join, they are denied, as if they are scum and they don't want to stay or can't find a purpose to stay anymore... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE FIX THIS!

i completley disagree. most don't want to join, so... we give them "incentives". member or not, you are apart of SmG. All can join our servers. I think private channels is a good idea for any discord.

We have public channels. If people aren't in them than maybe you should spend more time getting involved with the community. If you actually took the time to get involved you would probably be in those channels. But you don't even know that we don't capitalize the m in SmG so how would you know what is best for this community if you don't know the basics.

Private channels are a method of stopping randoms from just jumping into the channel and disrupting those that are already in there.
Just go to general chat and ask if anyone wants to join you in a vc.

You can always dm someone in the channel and ask to join them. They don't have to accept as they may not want anyone else to join but that is their choice.

It's no one specific, its just in general who ever asks to join might get turned down or ingored or accepted in, all chances of those out come are quite on the same level of happening. And as for the "incentives" part, it isn't that motivating to see a ghost discord when joined just for the sole purpose to talk to someone.

I've been in this discord for months Cloud and remembered the time that I could join when all the public channels were almost filled. I could talk to people who shared common interests and people who wanted to play games and people that we could all joke around with and laugh with and/or at. And I'm not saying its something that bugs me, I'm just saying this could be the thing that caused all those people in those channels to join join and talk in the discord anymore. I wake up in the morning "Oh no one is in the public channel and the Private channels are full, might as well not bother". And other people might feel the same as me, and this isn't drama, I just want the discord to prosper like it used to.
