After reviewing some YT videos, I decided to give a try to Fortnite rather than PUBG to get myself into the BR online genre.
After very few hours played, I am not sure that I will get back to it more than casually, or to try PvE. My main concerns are not about the randomness of the game startup, which is essential to the BR genre, but rather about how the current gameplay is implemented :
I do not find consistent at all the gamepelay mechanics revolving around base building in this BR genre. I have seen people doing stuff with it in games or on YT, but mostly nothing really worth it. If not for escalading walls or go on rooftops, this feature is practically useless... Well, in a skilled hand maybe the structures can be used as effective shields, but it's so anti-immersive that I would not congratulate this kind of gameplay. It feels off to build a fort in a BR genre, while it does not in Rust... IMO, players should be able to craft items such as ladders, planks for windows, traps, etc. is okay, but forts and walls are a bit too much (or just out-of-topic).
As I am a newbie I am quickly killed and have to relog again and again to start a new game. I am fine with the idea of dying fast as a newbie, but not with the idea of wasting more time logging into a game and jumping off a plane than having actual action. I read somewhere else that the devs are fine with the fact that the startup is randomized. I would suggest removing the whole airplane jump stuff and rather spawn players randomly on the map on start in a way that would let think you are "awaken" on the battlefield rather than having to painfully drive your character for minutes before arriving in your favorite zone . Jumping off the plane should be awarded to you for whatever other occasion/reward. :iamtheone: :iamtheone: :SinaCry: :SinaCry:
