Well for one, I'm not sure if you have talked to her about it. Well, it depends on how close your relationship is, as friends to begin with. If you used quotation marks, I'm not sure if you should go for it. If your relationship is lacking something that would've lead you to use quotations, I guess it's a sign you should just stay good friends. If you're far away, you won't be her shoulder to cry on, the person she spends time with, and if you feel like your relationship isn't strong enough in some aspects, it's likely someone else will be there for her when you can't. You're better of being friends for now, but just wait and see what the future holds for the both of you.
