Its a good idea, in my opinion, but if the welcome threads grt separated I think there is quite a big chance people wont look at them anymore thereby not welcoming the people that much anymore?

a good point and I did think of it whilst posting... maybe different sections separated.. so the filters could only show you welcome threads alongside normal posts without the applications if you wish?
