I was hiking, alone, in the Italian Dolomite range, and came across an old man and a dog. He stopped to talk to me, and I soon learned he didn't speak a word of English.  I speak zero Italian. We had a good long talk, using arm gestures, pantomime, and facial expressions, for about 10 minutes. It was a great non-versation. Then we shook hands, and he hiked off. It was one of the most surreal things I've ever experienced.
