Voices of Diffidence,
I want you to think back to a particular moment in time,
Whatever this moment may be for each and every one of us,
I want you to think back to a time,
when you didn't know what it was like to judge yourself.
How old were you, 3, 4, 5?
Or maybe you were 10 or 11 at the time?
Or maybe, you can't remember,
maybe you can't remember a moment in time where you felt free...
free of the judgment of it all.
A time before we all had this familiar voice in out heads,
a voice that lies deep within our skulls.
A voice constantly reminding us that we're not enough.
It's a voice put there my other people,
a voice that clones itself as our own.
We hear this voice daily,
repetitive words jumbled together into different phrases.
We hear this voice over and over again,
until we find ourselves no longer able to bear it.
This leads me to plead with you today,
and to beg.
Please,
before you speak make sure that the voice you give,
and the words that you say,
are not words that will kill someone's soul...
