Reactions to disabilities

So I am physically disabled as a handful of you know by now. I am a very open minded individual that loves hearing the opinions of others no matter how it comes across. Honesty is key with me even if it sounds savage or harsh. So with that out of the way I want to ask 2 questions.

How have you felt/reacted before when talking or being approached by someone in a wheelchair?

And

Have you ever had a good experience with anyone disabled you've come across in life?

RE: Reactions to disabilities

Im a nursing student. I’ve studied a lot about kids and people with disabilities and worked with them as well. Talking or working with them feels just like with “normal” people but they do need more attention and I always try to give it to them although it might not always be that easy.

Very brave of you to open up to the whole community. I respect that. If you even need anything feel free to DM me.

RE: Reactions to disabilities

I honestly feel more supportive to them through instinct. It's common human behavior to help the ones that are limited to do something. Disability or not, still the same flesh.

RE: Reactions to disabilities

Well.. I don't mind people in wheel chairs, They're just like anybody else to me. My dad had become diagnosed with CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy), also known from football players smashing their heads together repetitively. My mum also works with elders that're intellectually disabled. I don't think people should be called different or treated different unless that person says you can. I love my dad and nothing will change that, not even guiding him not to blurt out things he's thinking. Few days ago he called a lady in Walmart the B word and he wasn't able to control it. It's hard for him sometimes to control things and I understand that with everyone on this planet.

RE: Reactions to disabilities

whether they're disabled or not, they're still human beings and i support them 100% of course. I have a friend who's disabled and i treat them the same as i do with everyone with respect and i don't look at them differently lmao

RE: Reactions to disabilities

I got no problem with people with disabilities those people have my respect all the way(I think anyone with common sense shouldn't have any problem with disabled people). Often during my times in school I would acknowledge some of em with their helper and I just hope they make it out there and do what they gotta do cause the world can be harsh at times.

RE: Reactions to disabilities

Wheelchair or not, disabled or not everyone is equal.  I've even had the pleasure of working with children with disabilities whilst i was at college & was honestly one the most memorable things i did whilst i was there for good reasons! Even got to play wheelchair basketball which was 10x better than normal basketball  Pogchamp
