looks more like that first explosion throws your nade off

No, when a grenade comes in contact with something, e.g a wall or the ground, a timer is triggered and then after a set time that nade will explode, but me shooting the nade made the explosion happen before the timer trigger could finish and explode itself.

so it explodes when you shoot it but its still intact and flies away thats why it looked like there where 2 nades. woah major lag

No, it is NOT lag, it's a script error, the guy making the 'nades didn't think; 'Oh, guys wait, what if someone shoots the grenade? Shouldn't we make sure it works properly because it will happen all the time', now did they? It would have been a waste of time, the script still runs, and nades work fine, just don't shoot them. Halo 2 is a very rushed game, Microsoft made them take a lot out, and wait for Halo 3.
