I Have just bought an external SSD (500GB) and whenever I eject it it tells me a file is being used, when it's clearly not and so I just have to take it out and i'm scared of data loss

Could Anyone Help?

I mean do you have any apps installed on it? Could be that. What do you actually store in it?

Only School Notes, 1 Excel Document and Clips

Depends on which windows system you are using. Sometimes you just need to eject the drive twice for it to work.
Older windows systems required an unlocker program to release the drive.

Also could be a antivirus program running a check on the drive and it hasn't finished yet.
