I've been thinking about how this stuff is mostly just branding. Wouldn't it be good of consoles were upgradable ? We would see games with better graphics and features more often. Most multi platform games are made with console limitations in mind. But what if they don't exist ?

In my book, consoles are defined as consoles because they're meant to work a certain way; entertainment purposes. PCs work like PCs, its used for work and school (be it coding, programming or what not), whereas consoles nowadays have many features (internet browsing etc), it still has limitations to what it can do. So yeah, I would still consider them as "consoles" even if parts are still upgradable

If consoles could be upgraded it would destroy the profit inflow of the manufacturers. Imagine if you could keep upgrading your PS4 rather than switching to PS5. Ain't no way in hell they're letting that happen.

Consoles are essentially PC terminals gated to run specific software and limited functionality.

In other words, consoles are already PCs

I don't think so, turning a PS5 into a beast rig would be pretty insane.
