It was very close. was like 400 votse votes than others, that is what i heard. but the seeing age of empire want me to try it. like total war but age of empire is just looks good so i will try it out.

AOE II is the best RTS I have ever played, I used to play this game everyday, for at least 5 hours, was so much fun as a kid. I will always love its mechanics over any other RTS I have played, only other RTS that's come close is Command and Conquer.
I have; Starcraft, Starcraft II (but it's in Korean), C&C First Decade, AOE I / II / II (All Expansions), Sins of a Solar Empire, Nuclear Dawn (Haven't Downloaded it yet, Steam is homo), LoL (Don't like it), Warcraft (Eh) ...

That's not the complete list of RTS games I have, just all I can think of at the moment, I can't really be bothered searching my computer. :P

Starcraft(1 & 2) and AOE(All except 3 without the expansions) are the best RTS games.
Don't think that LoL is much of an RTS.

edit:Rise Of Nations is also a good RTS.

Ok star craft is just out of the list. I did these two because they can be compared. Starcraft and all these other games that you guys say is just bad to compare because they are very different.

Total war is better because you can manage your empire more realistic (Economy, Research, Taxes, Military, trading). All if these are more realistic. Starcraft, no the campagn is just bad, the online play is good but it is just very unbalance like if you are zerg. You can just wipe out protos so easily if you rush. Very unbalance. The other games are ok but Total war is just way above them. Age of Empire is also very big but total war is just to big for age of empire. Like the new total war, Shogon 2 total war Fall of the Samurai. It will be a big hit. Also, they are making a new one, it might be on the Race to Africa, when Europeans empires went to Africa for raw materials. You go and conquer more land and manage your economy. That is one prediction.

But every time a new total war comes in. The numbers just go sky rocket.

Love Total war than Age of empire. But I will try age of empire.
