Shingles (herpes zoster) is caused by the varicella-zoster virus , the same virus that causes varicella or chickenpox (all of these are in the human herpes virus 3 group). But you can get shingles without having chicken pox.

They're all a derivative of herpes. Shingles and Chicken Pox are different, hence why you can get both.

Chicken Pox as an adult is bad. That's what people try and make sure their kids get as soon as they can. Sometimes with pox parties, which you basically get a group of unsick, or uninfected kids to play with a few infected kids to make them catch it because of how severe it can be as an adult.

Either way Storm, I wish your father and brother a speedy recovery and then you can go back home and play some Halo. :P

All I'm saying is if you have it as a kid and it comes back when your an adult it can become shingles. Then the next thing its the same herpes group. They both are caused by this virus varicella-zoster virus.
